Nourishing Hands Inc. teen mentoring program serves teens through both school and community-based activities. We partner with high schools in low-income communities, churches, court systems, and other places where teen dwell to provide both virtual and in person, and one to-one and group mentoring sessions. Our program year runs from October to June. The model allows each participant access to four expert mentors throughout the year. Our services are delivered through four initiatives: Wellness, Education, Employment, and Financial Literacy. Each initiative runs for eight weeks, guided by curriculums that ensure our services are relevant and life changing for our participants.
46 million young people, aged 8-18 live in America today and 16 million of them are growing up without a mentor. 9 million of those without a mentor face a variety of day-to-day challenges that put them at-risk for falling off track. Mentoring is important, not only because of the knowledge and skills mentees learn from mentors, mentoring also provides professional socialization and personal support to facilitate success in adolescent years and beyond. Quality mentoring greatly enhances a teen’s chance for success.
