Watching the Samuels run two successful small business while being full time career professionals was inspiring! Their work ethic shows that they are passionate and determined to provide for their family and for their customers. They helped me understand the importance of keeping mine career options open.

Being apart of the Nourishing Hand’s program has truly impacted my life. I joined the program in my senior year of High School. I’ve learned more about personal development in the work space and how to network which is important now that I am in college. Not to mention, due to the program I received my first internship while in High School. As a result, when getting interviewed for scholarships and programs, I am able to talk about my internship experiences that I received through Nourishing Hands at Medsplus consulting, Perspectives Pyschological Resources, and The JTucker Group. Moreover, the internship experiences helped me secure academic schalorships beyond the school's offerings, which led to my debt free freshmen year at Howard University.

MedsPlus Consulting has helped me develop more confidence in speaking skills by allowing me to speak with their clients. In the beginning, this felt like a challenge to me, mainly because I've never really called a client before and was nervous that I would mess up or stutter. However, with a zoom call or two to walk me through the conversation and potential responses with Dr. Campbell, my jitters were eased and by the time I spoked with the clients, I felt well prepared.

My experience at LL Blue Engineering propelled my confidence in becoming a software engineer, because I was able to experience what software engineers do. I learn about coding and coding languages, and I understood how stressful and time-consuming the work can be. I even got to learn about the business side of things. My partner invited me to private meetings with engineers and programmers. I also met and work closely with an engineer on his team. During those interactions, I learned about the ins and outs about being an engineer-the hiring process, appropriate ways to communicate, projects deadlines, troubleshooting issues, etc. I feel so prepared to start my career because of what I learned through this experience.

What I learn from Mr. Tucker about basic skills, is that I need it to get into any work place in the future. If a person lacks basic skills, it’s very difficult to maintain employment. People need to learn how to type on the computer, send emails with proper grammar, and use professional tone and language when speaking on the phone. These advises were used in my interaction with his clients. I was able to engage his clients with well written emails and professional conversations when I spoke with prospective clients.

My experience interning with Fincher Denmark Law Firm has been great. The attorneys were welcoming and patient. During this internship, I learned legal terms, how to organize clients files, as well as how to conduct thorough research for a case. This experience has shown me what attorneys do to properly file and prepare for a cases. Overall, I'm grateful for the opportunity and insight that Fincher Denmark Law Firm has given me.
